We're Getting Close!

With the selection of these tumbled slate tiles to finish the counter backsplash and go behind the stove, we are all done choosing things for the kitchen! Everything is either here or on order; we're just waiting now for it all to be assembled and installed. I hope my patience holds out...

I've been having a hard time getting to sleep at night - I keep stopping in the kitchen on my way up to bed and, before I know it, I've spent a good half-hour planning where the dishes will go and imagining coming home from the grocery with different foods to put away or how the making dinner dance will go (pots here, spices there, food prep on this counter -ooh! a choice of counters!- etc...). I wonder how long it will take me to stop being excited about this kitchen?

Advice: Try to stay excited at least 's as long as it takes to pay off the home improvement loan. (Its udderly mootiful!)

I used to sit around with a template of my future cabinet and attempt to list exactly where I was going to put everything. Then the cabinets went in and I moved most of the stuff at least once. It's such a beautiful thing to get to read about another nester out there. I agree with PSheep (holla!), may your enthusiasm never wane!

@lmp - I do that! I've even given Chris a "tour" of the cabinets to sort of prep him - we lived in our last house over seven years and Chris NEVER learned where we kept casserole dishes. Every time I used one, he'd leave it on the counter - clean - because he didn't know where to put it away. He's been great in this house but has had it easy...who can't tell where the casserole dishes go when the cabinet doesn't have a side on it, so you can see them in there on the shelves?
